Following the very successful Regional Information Sharing Workshop of October 2004, hosted at SAIAB, Lucy Scott was invited to become an Editor for the Western Indian Ocean component of the African Ocean Portal (an online information resource). The LME (Large Marine Ecosystem) components of the portal were discussed and established during a five-day workshop held in Oostende, Belgium. The workshop was to inform Editors about the technical and managerial aspects of the portal, and provide training for ODINAFRICA data managers to create or improve their websites to ensure good data dissemination. The meeting was very informative for ACEP information management, as it was held at the International Oceanographic Data Exchange offices, and further planning for regional GIS training and atlas development projects took place.
