Phumlani Mapolisa The value of the deep ocean to me and my community Phumlani aboard the Algoa Some of us may take the ocean and its living organisms for granted, exploit and exaughts it by dumping dangerous chemicals, fishing without the authority’s permition captur some fishes that are not ment to be captured. To me the ocean is not only a place where I can go and swim ever I want to but consider it as a sacred place because more of the earths surface is covered with water and some of that water is an ocean. With that in mind I know that we will all die of thirst and of hunger because it is hot some of the water evaporates especially in the ocean and as high as the water vapour it gets cold and those particles combine they form clouds and those clouds will form rain and when it rains rivers, dams, lakes and ocean are filled helping farmers during irrigation and as a result of that farmers will be able to sell their crops and that will help increase the country’s economy. So to me the ocean is the backbone of the country’s economic development especially countries in Africa and Islands around Africa. To my community the ocean is the reason for our being and a place where we can communicate with our forefathers and in my religion it’s a place where we go to be baptised so that our souls may be clensed. To my community the ocean is also a place where we can go and have some fun but most important thing is that the ocean is a place where we can be the beauty of nature and the wonder of this world we live in. To all those people who throw dirty objects in the ocean or dump chemicals in the ocean they better think twice before doing an illegal thing they should know that they are not only harming the ocean but harming the country but worse you are harming yourself because nowdays the sea is considered to be the main source of income insome areas, areas like Cape Town where the majority of the population live by fishing and some live by playing water sports. So I can safely say the ocean is also a support system for human kind and without it we will be in the dark. Note: Essay has been typed out with no corrections made.
