The research vessle Algoa left Richards Bay on the 20th at 7pm for Sodwana Bay, luckily the storms had calmed down by then. The trip between Cape Town and Richards Bay was eventful to say the least, there were gale force winds to contend with and none of the oceanographic CTD lines could be deployed. Carol Wood and Andre Schutte the two educators on board had a wonderful time on board the ship, despite the weather! Andre, however was overcome by seasickness, a horrible reality for many first time sea farers. Carol really enjoyed the experience and has promised to write a little something for the website about her experience. The Ship should arrive and start the submersible dives with the Jago on Friday, hope they catch site of the coelacanths soon!
